Civic Engagement & Service to Others -  Civic participation programs will cover a wide variety of activities in which youth will participate in the formal and informal political processes that address community needs.  Programming will prepare youth to interact in their community and assist with the needs of others. Community service involvement is important because volunteering teaches people of all ages and backgrounds compassion and understanding.

Specific Opportunities Include…
Homework assistant:  Assist youth ages 6-18 in the completion of their homework.  The “ Scholar programs divides students into groups by their grade.  The Scholar programs is essential to our after-school academic achievement program.  All club members are required to complete their homework or an enrichment activity.

One-on-one Tutoring:  Work one-on-one with an individual student who needs extra help to improve their academic skills.  Tutoring activities include helping with homework and/or preparing for exams. Our Education Director will match each volunteer tutor with a Club member.  Tutoring needs will vary across ages and grade levels.

Mentoring: To help ensure that both the mentor and youth being mentor have a positive and successful experience the youth needs to know the adult care about them.  Adults must be a positive role model. Mentors will be ask to spend no less than 1 hour a week with member. Time can include doing homework, playing a games, talking, club program, etc.  Mentors are not permitted to take member off the Club-site.

STEM/STEAM:  IMPORTANCE OF STEM EDUCATION - Overall Workforce; Preparedness Individual Competitiveness;Learning New Things & Skill Mastery;Exploration & Creative Thinking; Accomplishment through Tactile Building; Experimental Problem-Solving

Recreational/Healthy Living: The recreation program will include sport, exercise, arts, culture, family events and parks to help build healthy youth, strong families and a healthy communities. A healthy lifestyle is a way of living that can help prevent health issues. It is also about physical, mental and social well being.  This program area will provide members with an opportunity to learn about the importance of being physical fit, eat healthy and being active in their community.

Professional guest speakers will be invited to speak and implement sessions at the Club for Club members and their families.

Career/Leadership: Motivate teens about a specific career path, the steps it will take to get them there, hurdles they may encounter and how to overcome those hurdles, school requirements, etc.  Staff leading fun, enriching activities to help members of all ages learn and explore subject areas including: Enterprise/Vocational skills, Culture, Cooking, Poetry, Dance, Journalism, Creative Writing, Painting, Money Management and Design, Horticulture, Gang and Drug Awareness, etc.
